understanding. Even while separated, if you both are trying to coparent, that should involve discussions about child care and she should have discussed this with you prior to it happening, not leaving it for you to find out about the day of. My first thought also is, no a 13 year old should not be watching an infant. But I think that also depends on a lot of things. Has this child babysat other kids before? Are they CPR certified? Is there a neighbor or someone nearby who can occasionally check on them? Does he have a cell phone he can use for emergencies? Would I trust my 13 year old nephew to babysit my newborn? No, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t 13 year olds out there more than capable of doing it. But if this is something you are clearly not okay with, your coparent should respect that and you should work together to find alternative forms of childcare

I was that kid, too; I’ve always adored with babies. They absolutely have greater needs than a Official vivziepop Beelzebub Summer Splatter Shirt Edit: wow, this is clearly a “your mileage may vary” situation. Maybe I just have tough babies and an easy 4yo, but it seems to also depend on people’s personal opinion about how responsive one has to be to a baby’s cries. My main perspective for my initial comment is the fact that we’ve spent some time lately with my kids’ cousins who are 10, 12 and 13, all boys. The cousins are great with my 4yo and will happily play with him for hours. I’m always nearby (like in the kitchen overlooking the backyard where they play) and there have been zero issues. Only one of the cousins, the 12yo, has showed any interest in our 2 month old baby. He held the baby awkwardly for one minute, and when the baby started fussing just a little, handed the baby back to me in a near panic. I could imagine leaving my 4yo with any of those boys for a few hours if I was in a tough caregiving spot and knew I was five minutes away. I absolutely cannot imagine leaving my baby with any of them.
